There's a big difference between promoting yet another Ebook on weight loss and a genuine newsworthy story. And there's a big difference between the types of web sites and media outlets that respond to "real news" and the sites you end up at when you're using free PR services.
I have a client who makes parade balloons. Not the balloons kids hold on a string when they're watching the parade go by, he makes those multi-story ones you see at the Macy's parade, the Rose Bowl parade, and venues like that.
So when he created the Master Hauser Golden Angel, a 40’ reproduction of a 400 year old German tinsel doll first made in Nuremberg by a despondent doll maker to sooth his wife’s sorrows over the recent loss of their child, he wanted to make sure that the people who buy parade balloons knew it was available. The same was true when he released a 3-story Snowman at about the same time.
So after I wrote the Press Releases for him, I did the only responsible thing. I released it through eMedia Wire, because that was the only way I could guarantee it would get picked up by enough media outlets that potential buyers would see the story. And they did.
